Dogs with jobs

Are you aware of all the jobs that our canine friends can do?!

ASSISTANT DOG: Trained to assist people with disabilities. Common used breeds are; Golden retriever, Labrador, Standard poodle, German shepherd.

THERAPY DOG: Offering emotional support. Common used breeds are; Golden retriever, Labrador, Standard poodle, Border collie.

POLICE DOG: Trained to protect and assist law enforcement, supporting their handler and other officers in the line of duty. Common used breeds are; German shepherd, Belgian Malinois, Dutch herder.

MILITARY DOG: Similar to police dogs but also take part in search & rescue missions. Common used breeds are; German shepherd, Belgian Malinois, Dutch herder.

DETECTION DOG: Trained to sniff out a particular group of substances such as, Illegal drugs, explosives, blood & human remains. Detection dogs can also be used to detect Cancer, abnormal blood sugar level and insects. Common used breeds are; Springer & Cocker spaniel, Beagle, Labrador, Golden retriever.

SEARCH AND RESCUE DOG: Using their high sense of smell they support the team by tracking, avalanche rescue and cadaver location. Common used breeds are; Labrador, Golden retriever, Border collie, Leonberger, German shepherd.

HERDING DOG: Using their herding instinct which is perfected with training to assist in the movement of livestock. Common used breed are; Border collie, Black mouth cur, Icelandic sheepdog.

GUARD DOG: Protection dogs that are used to protect territory. Common used breed are; German shepherd, Akita, Bullmastiff, Doberman, Pincher.

LIVESTOCK DOG: Used to protect animals that are vulnerable to predators. Common used breeds are; Great pyrenees, Border collie, Australian cattle dog.
